Common problems and fixes

A reminder arrived late, or not at all

  1. Check that notification permission is granted for FootyMate in your device settings — without it, nothing can be scheduled.
  2. Check whether the match had a reminder set. A per-match reminder shows its lead time on the fixture row.
  3. On Android, allow exact alarms and exclude FootyMate from battery optimization. Aggressive battery settings can delay a scheduled alarm.
  4. On Free, alerts are occasional by design — a subset of your club's fixtures, two hours before kickoff. Premium covers every match.

Fixtures look out of date

  1. Read the status line under the filter chips. It says exactly one true thing: when data was last updated, that saved fixtures are showing, or that a refresh is not available yet.
  2. Tap refresh in the toolbar.
  3. On Free you get about one fixtures refresh per calendar day. Premium refreshes on roughly a five-minute allowance.
  4. Nothing refreshes in the background. Opening the app is what triggers an update.

A match is missing lineups, stats, or a timeline

  1. Those three tabs are part of FootyMate Premium.
  2. Coverage depends on the data provider. Friendlies and lower-profile cups are often sparse, and formations are not published for every competition.
  3. Detail usually firms up closer to kickoff and shortly after full time.

Subscription questions

  1. Restore a purchase: Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases.
  2. Cancel or change a plan: Settings → Subscription → manage, which opens your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. FootyMate cannot cancel a subscription for you.
  3. A subscription is tied to the store account that bought it. There is no FootyMate account, so an App Store subscription does not carry over to Google Play, or the other way round.
  4. Refunds are handled by the App Store or Google Play, not by FootyMate.

Calendar events you did not expect

  1. FootyMate can only modify or remove events it created itself. Anything else in your calendar came from somewhere else.
  2. To clear them all: Settings → "Remove all Footymate events". It is not locked behind Premium.
  3. When Premium ends, FootyMate removes its future events and keeps past ones.

Android

  1. FootyMate is on Google Play, free to download, and needs Android 7.0 or later.
  2. If the install is blocked, check that your device meets that minimum and that Google Play is signed in to the account you intend to use.
  3. Reminders rely on exact alarms. If they arrive late, allow exact alarms for FootyMate and exclude it from battery optimization.
  4. Premium bought on Google Play stays on Google Play. There is no FootyMate account, so it does not transfer to an Apple device.

  • Include your device and OS version. "iPhone 14, iOS 17.4" or "Pixel 7, Android 15" saves a round trip.
  • Name the match. Both clubs and the date, if the issue is about a specific fixture.
  • Say what you expected. Especially for reminders, where the difference between the global alerts toggle, a per-match reminder, and system notification permission matters.
  • Privacy questions are answered in the FootyMate privacy policy, and the same address handles anything it does not cover.
